Persist Until Something Happens!
Alright folks here we are on the 4th of January - we all want more health and happiness this year right? That's wonderful - knowing what you want gets you closer to attaining it. Now it's time to step up your game. Saying you want something and working for it are different. It's time to PUSH - you need to think of yourself like an athlete in training - you are training to kick some Lyme disease butt. It's time to be assertive with your health. Be a good coach to yourself. This is not the same as guilt - it means acknowledging your weaknesses and strengths and working with them. If you know you want to go gluten free this year today is the day to start doing it. What are you waiting for?
I know you have a lot on your plate but let's make sure everything on that plate needs to be there - the worry and anxiety take up a lot of space and leave you full - too full for joy, and hope, and laughter. Let's get rid of those. What else - self pity. Yeah that needs to go to - someone is fighting harder then me somewhere. I try to use that as inspiration. This is not to say "it could be worse". Though this may be try when you are struggling it doesn't make you feel better. Step back and coach yourself through. Get rid of what weighs you down and make room on that plate for the healthy stuff both literally and mentally. Every morning when you get up think about eating 3 meals that day - think about the kinds of foods that you want to see there. It should be colorful and fresh and full of nutrients. Do some menu planning if it helps. Shop with intention and purpose, ASK FOR HELP. Few of us are able to compete Top Chef style and battle disease. Some days you can do it yourself. Isn't that awesome. Some days you need help. Put down the phone - help does not come in the form of a Meat lover's pizza! Come on you know this. Coach yourself. Take your mindset about food and apply it to your emotional well being. Do you want to load up on fake processed feelings - or do you want to get to a point of real natural health & wellness despite your disease. It's a great feeling being in the middle of this journey and it's the biggest middle finger I can give to Lyme. After years of letting this illness be excuse for making poor decisions I have turned my life and mindset around. It's an active and ongoing process. You can't jog 1 day a month and expect to finish a marathon a year from now. Take your eating and look like this. Small changes count as long as you stick with them. Don't make promises you can't keep. If you adore chocolate and tell yourself you will never eat it again you are setting yourself up for either failure, or success but misery. What you can do is allow it to be a treat instead of a daily indulgence and simply improving the quality of ingredients in your chocolate is a good step to take. Go dark, go non GMO, go fair trade, go organic. We all know the cost of illness - stop letting the cost of eating well be acceptable. When you truly commit you find a way - it ma involve buying a Tower Garden and growing your own produce like I am or shopping somewhere new or both! We are talking about making changes to your life, diet and mindset, other things will have to change too. Accept that now. Use the tools you have - talk to your healthiest eating friends, get online do some research, check out cookbooks for non GMO vegetarian food and go to town. Your homework is to make 4 completely new recipes this month - plant based would be a major bonus.
Let me know what you come up with. I have a ton of recipes on pinterest (http://www.pinterest.com/audgenius/)))and the Meatless Monday site also has great recipes. I recommend both, It's January 4th are you ready to commit to a healthier tomorrow. I am! Thank you for visiting Between Health 7 Wealth Avenues - I have some veggies to go chop myself so I'll be here again tomorrow - y'all come back now you hear? Peace, Audrey
