So my friends it is Meatless Monday once again - I will be posting Meatless recipes on my facebook page later! You can find it at https://www.facebook.com/groups/akorteshares/?ref=br_tf/.
Meatless Monday should be a part of your never ending battle to better yourself. It's really good for the environment & it's great or your health. Studies show that people who go Meatless on Mondays are more likely to choose healthy fresh foods later in the week. It's a great campaign I am a part of. I invite you to join me and go Meatless on Mondays. If you don't have a lot of experience with vegetarian cuisine fear not I will help you. Your body will thank you. It's also worth noting I don't care for what's happening to food with GMO's and it's easy to buy fresh and non-organic foods if you look for it. I think all food should have a label to say if it's GMO or not but that has yet to happen so I suggest looking for organic farms close to you.
For those of you with a Tower Garden (akortshares.towergarden.com) you can easily grow pesticide free non GMO produce this spring so it may be time to order your seedlings now. We will have recipes for fresh produce in the next few weeks particularly on Mondays! So head on over to facebook and join our community if you haven't yet. We are a welcoming group of chronically ill health conscious nutrition nuts with some liberal sass and a lot of pizazz. I am so excited there are over 8,500 hits on the blog today _ each and every one of you counts. Invite others to the group too please. There are so many who can benefit from being a part of a loving community of teachers and students in the classroom of chronic disease.
A few pointers for today my friends. Start small. If you have never gone meatless just start with having a vegetarian meal tonight. Try to experiment with new veggies and herbs instead of going with pasta or grilled cheese. Supposedly our taste buds mature like we do so things you did not care for as a child may now taste good. Don't hesitate to use some of the hundreds of recipes I have on pinterest too: http://www.pinterest.com/audgenius/. That's what they are there for!
Remember food is medicine - so use it appropriately and let's feel better folks!
You have to know that food has power and use it with respect and reverence when you are battling illness. It can be a great healer but it can do great damage as well if you let over processed and fast food take over your meals. If you are in that habit start to tap the brakes my friend. Slow down & start consuming more fresh and less processed foods! Brake for you health & the health of those you love. When you have a good reason to change, it's more likely that you will follow through in the long run. So don't forget to go Meatless on Mondays and join this site if you plan to be beack (over to thr right!)
Have a happy, healthy & hopeful Monday friends. Y'all come back now ya hear? Peace, Audrey
