why do we continue to use beauty as the milestone for worth with women. Cut it out people. We are better then this!

Tell your daughters they strong and smart - they have leadership skills. Tell them the best is yet to come.Tell them you love them just the way they are. Tell them you are proud of them and can't wait to see the amazing things they will accomplish. Tell them to put their dreams first and to be willing to fight for what they want. Tell them to never give up. Tell them it's more important to beautiful on the inside then the out and that societies ideals will change when it comes to what's pretty but if they are strong, determined and good of heart that's something they will carry with them forever.

Don't read fashion magazines in front of your girls, don't talk about weight loss - talk about health, don't say "you're so beautiful" say "you're so strong and motivating." This is one resolution worth making for the next generation of female leaders.

I just wanted to get this up today at least - we are probably going to lose power here due to this East Coast storm - if not expect a Lyme Life post later today as well!

But this came to me today - I am inundated and overwhelmed with weight loss ads and disgusted with the examples we set for young women. How often do we tie a boys worth to his looks - "Oh you're so handsome" - well maybe when they are little but when they 20 or 30 is that the best compliment you can give a man? No. So why do we continue to use beauty as the milestone for worth with women. Cut it out people. We are better then this!
