is it complete destruction or is it painful growth? - the seeds of change! It's not what you think...

I don't often do this but today I dedicate this post to a few very special friends: Lane Poor, Logan McCulloch, Aj Jackson, Adam Patrick Korte, Anne Spicer and Heather Binns. Thank you for helping me see past the destruction...

Well I guess I am a seed of sorts! I have cracked, broken, been crushed to smithereens & come completely undone on more then one occasion. The shell cracks, the insides come out and everything changes. This is allows that seed to grow. It looks un-mendable, useless, worthless - like garbage. But give it time. Wait. I said give it time. Wait.

I said GIVE IT TIME! In our fast paced world we have lost this ability.

Oh you just bought a new phone - - it's already outdated. You just bought a new car - the minute you drive it off the lot it "looses value". You just bought a home - now the banks taking away. We live with rules and ideas that make you scratch your head. Worse still we begin to value ourselves with these same standards. How's that seed doing now - still looks like crap huh? Give it time. It will produce and grow. It will grow small at 1st, then larger, and stronger. It will grow until it can provide a source of nourishment for you. It will grow until it provides shade for newer younger plants. It will be a beacon of hope for the other cracked and destroyed seeds in the ground. And then they too will grow big and strong and beautiful. They never be the same as that cracked seed. They will never be crushed again and buried below the surface. The will grow and grow and so will we.

But Audrey, some of us that are broken cannot grow without some mending. True. There is an idea from the Japenese that when something has broken and needs mending instead of trying to making it appear unbroken and flawless they celebrate it's imperfections and fix it in a way so that you couldn't help but notice it's been through hell and back.

“When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.”― Barbara Bloom

The history of the world begins with a seed. The seed is the kernel of what you are, but it is also the promise of what you can become.” ― Kate ElliottCold Steel

So my friends I hope you don't decide to give up now! You may be buried in the earth, cracked and crazy - feeling useless, hopeless, and wondering when you will feel the warmth of the sun again and the growth that all living beings want and seek. I am telling you be patient. Just wait - you will break the surface soon and that light will be almost as uplifting as realizing just how much you've overcome and much you have grown!

As always have a happy healthy and hopeful day. Y'all come back now ya hear? PEACE, Audrey
